Reham Abazid spreads the Thursday flyers across the living-room floor—a blanket for the evening meal that will break the fast of Ramadan’s first day. At sunset on May 27, in a tidy three-bedroom apartment in Saint John’s Crescent Valley, Reham and her husband, Mohammad, and their family gather.

The story of the new arrivals in Saint John is one of transformation, community, and the persistent challenges of building a new life in an unfamiliar land, within the quiet but evolving streets known locally as "Syria Town."
